		<description><![CDATA[Spot on, Paul.  Although, I think you may be assuming a bit more weight of influence for marketing in the board room than they actually have.  That being said, this is a great perspective.  When I first heard of the standardization effort at SHRM, I thought it was a good idea.  But, you are right.  It&#039;s a typical HR response to the problem, create more rules.  I think that there will be value that comes from the standardization effort, but not game changing value.  The other thing that is critically different between marketing and HR is that marketing is trying to create differentiation in regards to their product or service to the competition.  Even when HR gets down to measure and standardization, they aren&#039;t even focusing on the employee or human capital, instead the focus is on the process.  Not the right place to start.
