As an Industrial Engineer who made the logical transition into HR, I
sometimes struggle with keeping up on the latest trends while not
totally ignoring past lessons learned. It is not only too important to
wait for academic consensus and general industry buy-in, it is
absolutely essential that we are on solid ground with new ideas and not
just following the latest vaporous fad. This will be a great series...at
least for me. Rock my thinking, John!

I'm really excited about this series! I'm head of HR for an amazing company in a really old-school industry : wooden cabinet making. We look at the people component very much through the lens of TQM, SQDC, and heavy metrics. It's been interesting to move from a "happiness officer" kind of role at a consulting company to a real focus on practical productivity and quality enhancement. I think this series can really help me think about how to use some newer tools to get our work done effectively and efficiently.
