Having been involved with a group with Brian for the last 6 years, I find this group to be a tremendous benefit to myself as well as to my organization. Brian has a unique way to bring members together and to get members engage in dialogues. Even in this day of technology and 2.0 tools, there is a value for having a face-to-face forum.

Having been a member of one of Brian's groups for some time (and turning on some colleagues to venues appropriate for their field of interest) I would heartily concur with the description written. Enabling effective informal learning – sometimes 'the old-fashioned way' – is what he does best. For practitioners who are relatively experienced, having that opportunity is priceless.

I've known Brian (and, incidentally, John) for a long time and I think his approach to “self-organizing networks,” is well-done and has a great track record. I look forward to learning more about the neuroscience angle.

I am a new member of Brian's Innovation Council. By the end of the first meeting I attended, I had met kindred spirits, been inspired, added several books to my reading list, and couldn't wait to put the next meeting on my calendar. I particularly appreciated the free exchange of ideas, the willingness to share “warts and all” and the wonderful feeling that participation in this council will yield friendship, support, and a great problem-solving resource – at and between the meetings.

I've been a participant in Brian's Learning councils for over two years.. Excellent discussions, frank feedback and well run agendas. Very helpful input for HR technology decision support. These forums facilitate excellent discussions among industry colleagues.
Best practices have a place, but we have to all deal with years of previous practices and investments as an anchor. The “realistic” best practice is to remain open and honest and find mutual objectives. We all solve problems differently and learn best from one another, implementing change one step at a time..
