Thought For The Day: “Sometimes, the initial fruits of success look exactly like failure.”

  • Work Strong
Peter Weddle’s blog on finding work and getting more satisfaction from it is a breath of fresh air. It’s a boomer ethic complement to Brazen Careerist.
  • Google Page Rank Explained
As social software takes full root, it’s useful to look back at this idea.  “Page Rank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important”.” Imagine this technique, expanded and amplified, as the way you will come to view your online network.
  • CareerPath101
Brilliant new career hub just  opened its doors. CareerPath101 is so candidate centric that it sets the standard. If BrazenCareerist has the market for job hunting angst, these guys have the “how do you really do it” thing down.
  • ChumBonus
New startups are exploding onto the scene. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this level of entrepreneurship. This gem is a repositioning of the ground plowed by H3 a couple of years back.
