Big Picture
  • The 2018 Index of Predictive Tools in HRTech: The Emergence of Intelligent Software. John Sumser’s report on the current state of AI in HRTechnology. On Sale now.
  • DeepMind Ethics and Society. “We created DeepMind Ethics & Society because we believe AI can be of extraordinary benefit to the world, but only if held to the highest ethical standards. Technology is not value neutral, and technologists must take responsibility for the ethical and social impact of their work. In a field as complex as AI this is easier said than done, which is why we are committed to deep research into ethical and social questions, the inclusion of many voices, and ongoing critical reflection.”

HR’s View
  • Are We Ready For A Workforce That is 50% Freelance? This article suggests a 50% freelance workforce by 2027.  The dense argument suggests that the motivators are a combination of control and better pay. It pooh-poohs overly romantic views of the stability of traditional employment. Of course, it’s a story provided by the CEO of a website devoted to freelancing. Nonetheless, the change is coming. Our HRTech systems do nothing to manage and monitor these extensions of the workforce.

  • Google for Jobs Explained. “Google Cloud jobs API is the first vertical pre-trained machine learning model from Google, acting like a translator for job titles and making it easier for job seekers to find exactly what they are looking for.In a nutshell, the API aggregates clusters of similar jobs (art, fashion & design or business development manager, director, government BD manager) and most importantly, it understands the specific job title, but also synonyms (biz dev, bus. Dev etc), similar roles (brand manager, relations manager), occupation, job category and necessary skills (business development, communications/interpersonal skills etc).
