The difference between what is imagined and what actually happens is standard cognitive dissonance in business. As the future unfolds, AI will be very different from how we currently see it.

  • Small cities face greater impact from automation. The larger the city, the more resilient.The important note here is that the impact of automation varies by city and industry. It’s a good time to think about plant locations.

  • Competencies in the Cognitive Era. This IBM white paper makes the case for using competencies. Framed as a rationale for auditing and improving your workforce’s competencies, the authors lay out a strategy for ensuring that your team stays relevant in a rapidly changing market.
  • Just How Shallow is the Artificial Intelligence Talent Pool?  The research says that “there are about 22,000 PhD-educated researchers working on AI, of which about 3,000 are currently seeking work.”
